Created Specifically for a Surviving Spouse or Child of a Fallen Veteran

There is no replacement for the loss of a loved one in service to our country or due to a service connected disability. However, the Veterans Affairs can help. You may be eligible to receive Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC), or Death Pension. The 2010 basic rate of DIC pay for an eligible recipient is $1154.00 per month, for life..

You Need The VA Claims Guide If:

  • You are a surviving spouse or child of a deceased veteran seeking to submit a claim for dependency indemnity compensation because your loved one died of a service connected condition or he or she was rated permanent and totally disabled for more than 10 years; or
  • You are submitting a claim for death pension benefits.
